What We Do

The Lorain Soil and Water Conservation District provide technical assistance to individuals, groups and units of government in Lorain County for the management of natural resources including soil, water, forest and other related issues.


Technical Programs

Drainage Program — in cooperation with the Lorain County Commissioners and the Lorain County Engineer


Planning and survey design for conservation practices such as waterways, filter strips, wetlands, erosion control structures, animal waster systems, composting facilities, fertilizer and chemical storage facilities

Pond Application and Design

Subdivision reviews in unincorporated areas

Landowner drainage site reviews

Pollution Abatement Program

The District has various items available for purchase, including bird and squirrel feeders, bluebird and wren houses, bat boxes, Lorain County Soil Survey DC’s, USGS Topographic and National Wetland Inventory Maps, pond management books, landscape plant, tree and shrub identification books.
